Rewarding our volunteers
To coincide with , the BA has announced the winners of its first Sir Walter Bodmer Award for Volunteers. The award will be shared by an outstanding BA Branch member and the staff behind a successful school science club.

Colin Axon, from the BA Bristol & Bath Branch, shares the first award with staff at St Mary’s Primary School, Bridgend.

“Choosing the most worthy recipient of the award was, I know, very difficult,” said Sir Walter Bodmer, after whom the award is named. “The BA is fortunate to have many highly committed and enthusiastic volunteers supporting its network and we decided to recognise two very different, but equally invaluable aspects of the BA’s network of volunteers.

“Colin is an exemplary BA volunteer, an active committee member for almost 25 years now. He was instrumental in setting up our Bristol & Bath Branch, which has become one of our most active and innovative Branches. As for St. Mary’s Primary School, the work they are doing in enthusing their students with a passion for science is outstanding.”
