Colin Axon, a member of the Chemical Engineering Department at the University of Bath, joined the BA in and was immediately an active committee member. He was instrumental in setting up the Bristol & Bath Branch in and has since worked tirelessly to keep the branch active and vigorous. His major contributions are the special projects that he has masterminded: , a science-based play “The Music of the Spheres”, and the Science and Engineering Societies Forum. The leaflets and posters describing the Trail have been widely circulated locally proved popular with residents, schools and tourists, and the Music of the Spheres has been performed locally and nationally. The Forum promises to revitalise the activities of science and technology communities in Bristol and Bath.
“I've been involved with the BA since I was a child and I'm surprised and delighted to receive an award for doing something which I just enjoy doing,” says Colin. “The BA has been great at letting me try out all sorts of ideas, but I couldn't have made all the various projects work without the help of many others. However, the best reward will always be the compliments from people who come along to events or take part in our activities and go away with a smile.”
