Dr Evan Harris graduated as a doctor from Oxford in . He worked in acute hospital medicine until , then in public health medicine until . He was a member of the National Council of the BMA from -.
Following his election in , he was junior NHS spokesman, then spokesman on Higher Education, Science and Women's Issues. Upon his re-election in, Dr Harris was until recently Shadow Health Secretary.
He is a member of the BMA Medical Ethics Committee and Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Kidney Group.
